John Soukup is a Knights of Columbus Field Agent and a Fourth Degree member, serving brother Knights and their families in Lincoln, and east-central Nebraska. John has been a member of the Knights since 1988 and became a field agent in 2012.
“As I was discerning God’s will in my life, I felt the Holy Spirit guide me to serve Him and the Church in a role that enables me to meet people on a different level where we can work together to put a customized plan in place to protect families and their future,” says John.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, John graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a degree in Journalism and minor in Economics. After 15 years in radio broadcasting, he worked for a banking software company for seven years before God called him to serve the Church through Spirit Catholic Radio, where he spent five years as station director for development and public relations.
John married his wife Ellen in 1986, soon after they met in a singing group in college. Ellen teaches music at St. John the Apostle Catholic School and is music director for the church. They have lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, since 1996 and have two adult children.
A member of St. John’s Knights of Columbus Council #11280, John is the former State Membership Director, State Family Director, and Vocations Chair for the Nebraska Knights of Columbus; Past Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Membership Director for local councils; Master of Ceremonies for various church festivals and dinners throughout Nebraska; Past President of the Pius X High School Home/School Association; board member for the Serra Club, Holy Harvesters and Regnum Christi; Member of the Lincoln Advisory Committee for Spirit Catholic Radio.
“More than a field agent, I am a fraternal brother who cares for and guides families to help protect their future and gain peace of mind,” says John. “My goal is to create a comprehensive financial map for each family I meet. With my management background and desire to help people achieve their dreams, I look forward to serving members and their families in the caring manner that I’d want shown to my own family.”
